Swami Shri Yukteshwarji

ShriyukteshwarjiSwami Shri Yukteshwarji (1855-1936) was one of the most prominent disciples of Lahiri Mahasaya and he was known for his very high state of realisation, his sharp mind and deep wisdom. Accordingly the wish of his parents he married and started a family. He studied for instance medical science and astronomy and possessed a free and almost ‘western’ analytical mind. Due to this he had a great desire to bring eastern end western spirituality together. During a big religious pilgrimage he met Babaji and got inspired to write a book about this subject: “The holy science” (publisher Ankh Hermes).

On the 22th of March, the day of the spring equinox according cosmic astrology, het founded a hermitage called Karar Ashram inPuri, east India. In the West this ashram became known because of his enlightened disciple Yogananda. Under his guidance, his disciples Swami Satyananda and Paramahamsa Hariharananda also reached the highest state of meditation and realisation. His solemn image, the extraordinary story of his resurrection in front of Yoganadaji at a hotel in Mumbai, his appearance to Paramahamsa Hariharananda and even a this moment his view of deep wisdom fulfils a lot of disciples with deep spiritual vibrations.
